These festive cuties at Grove Park Primary School in Chiswick put a smile on everyone's face as they performed in their nativity play.

Pensioners dined in style at a Chiswick school as they were treated to table service by pupils at a glitzy Christmas tea party.

Year six students from Grove Park Primary School, in Nightingale Close, dressed up as waiters to serve tea to pensioners from Clifton Gardens Care Home in Chiswick and residents of Mary Seacole House in Clapham.

Head teacher Marion Lee, said: "The party was a fantastic success."

A new children's centre is to open on the site of a Chiswick Primary School.

The Dukes Meadows Children Centre will open on December 10, as not just a community building, but also a hub which can provide information on all Universal Services availiable for the under fives, within wallking distance from the centre itself.

Children from a Chiswick school created their own supermarket to raise money for the homeless.

Parents from Grove Park Primary School in Nightingale Close, Chiswick, visited the pupils' supermarket on October 17, with all the money spent being donated to The Upper Room in Sheperds Bush.

Older people suffering from dementia in Hounslow are now getting more support after the launch of a new project.

Chiswick Day support have started a befriending project which involves local social work students developing one-to-one relationships with elderly clients, many of whom have dementia.

Over the last few weeks, hundreds of excited youngsters put on a smart uniform for the first time as they prepared for their daunting first day at school.

To celebrate this important milestone in their lives, the Chronicle has visited reception classes up and down the borough to capture the moment.

Nervous new pupils from Belmont Primary School, Grove Park Primary School, The William Hogarth Primary School, Cavendish Primary School, in Chiswick, were among those to have their portraits snapped on their first day.

The countdown has begun for local primary schools and youth groups to sign up for Mini Pots of Care, a fun and educational planting activity that raises funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The charity is inviting primary schools and youth groups aged 3-11 to get their hands dirty this October by growing daffodils for its Mini Pots of Care fundraiser, run in partnership with Yellow Pages directories.

Clearing open days at university this weekend

Thames Valley University is holding two open days this weekend to mark the start of clearing.

They take place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th August between 11am - 3pm at the Mary's Road site in Ealing, where you can find out about courses taught at the Brentford and Ealing campuses.

These are the ideal opportunity to find out about the undergraduate courses that are currently available through clearing, as well as see the campus and find out about student support, finance and accommodation.

Let's hope smiles like these are a common site around the borough as students collect their A-level results.
