Veterans were escorted down the Thames by Chiswick Sea Cadets as part of an annual cruise.

The Association of Dunkirk Little Ships held the Annual Veterans Cruise on Sunday, with The Sea Cadets Units in London's South West District helping volunteers from the navy.

To celebrate Thames Explorer Trust's 21st birthday a water aquarium was built at their Chiswick base.

Designed to show children the life that can be found in the river Thames, the water aquarium was opened by comedian Dara O Brian on Wednesday at Chiswick Pier House.

The second annual awards event honoured 148 young achievers aged 11-25 who were nominated by their peers and selected for a variety of achievements.

Chiswick House Gardens' popular dog show is looking for stallholders for this year's event.

Taking place on Sunday September 27, Chiswick House Organised Walkers (CHOW) are looking for a mix of non-profit and commercial stallholders to get in touch.

Art produced by children after visits to Chiswick Kitchen Garden is now on display at London International Gallery of Children's Art.

Children who attended the arts programme, were encouraged to use a variety of art materials and to observe form, texture and colour to creatively express their experiences in the gardens.

Five years ago Karen Liebreich, Jutta Wagner, Annetee Wendland and others began to restore the neglected seventeenth-century kitchen garden at Chiswick House.

Thornycroft bellThe Thornycroft Bell rang out again last night, from the Pier House, Chiswick to three cheers led by our Sea Cadets and the applause of over 70 local people who had come to hear of the borough's proud shipbuilding heritage.

Mr Peter Usher, President of Vosper Thornycroft, and Mr David Hutchings, company archivist, came up from Southampton, at the invitation of the Chiswick Pier Trust to give an illustrated talk on the history of Thornycroft Shipbuilding Yard, which had built over 350 craft at Church Wharf just upstream of Chiswick Mall between 1862 and 1904.

A new children's centre is to open on the site of a Chiswick Primary School.

The Dukes Meadows Children Centre will open on December 10, as not just a community building, but also a hub which can provide information on all Universal Services availiable for the under fives, within wallking distance from the centre itself.

We have been in discussion with the Chiswick House and Gardens Trust over what kind of access we will have to the Kitchen Garden during 2009, when works will be carried out there to restore paths, walls and so on.

We are pleased that this work is happening - as restoring the Kitchen Garden as a garden is part of the reason we exist.

Unfortunately, this work means that our access will be disrupted. The Trust has confirmed to us that for safety reasons they will not permit access by children starting in January 2009. They have also confirmed that adult drop-in sessions will not be permitted from January but that they will review in June whether those sessions can be restarted.

Around 60 people gathered at Chiswick Pier House on Tuesday October 7 to hear the latest on the new Thames Tunnel from lead engineer Phil Stride from Thames Water.

Phil provided historic and technical background to this massive engineering project, but many of the audience were most interested in hearing about the nature and likely location of the one of the tunnel's main shafts.
