MURDER squad police have launched an investigation into who is responsible for the death of the baby boy killed by a falling lamp-post.

A Police spokeswoman today announced that a joint investigation is under way by officers from the homicide and serious crime command, Hounslow CID and the Health and Safety Executive.

The youngster, thought to be about a year old, died at 5.30am this morning (Thursday) it was confirmed. A post mortem is due to be arranged shortly.

He was critically injured on Tuesday when a 40ft post fell on to his pram and was airlifted to Royal London Hospital.

Thebaby boy who was hit by a toppling lamp-post in Chiswick yesterday remains in a "critical but stable condition".

The one-year-old is receiving treatment at Royal College Hospital after he was crushed by a lampost outside Chiswick Town Hall yesterday.

Chiswick Pier Trust is inviting families to celebrate Mother's Day with a Cruise down the Thames.

The Cruise on Sunday March 14, will sail from Chiswick Pier to Westminster at 2.45pm before returning to the pier on the bank of Corney Reach.


A third cannabis factory has been busted by Hounslow police in the space of a month.

Officers were called to a house in Merton Avenue. Chiswick last Tuesday, after a concerned neighbour reported a smashed door, however they discovered much more than they bargained for.

Generous shoppers donated more than £10,500 towards the RNLI as crews took part in a 24-hour row-a-thon.

Chiswick and Teddington lifeboat crews were joined by British, Olympic gold medal-winning rower, Greg Searle at the fundraising event in Kingston's Bentalls Centre, which aimed to raise money for the charity's SOS fund.
