Lifeboat crew members from RNLI Chiswick are taking part in a 24-hour row-a-thon to raise funds for the life saving charity.

The crew, who join the Teddington team, will take up residence in Kingston's Bentall Centre shopping complex between Friday January 29 and Saturday 30, taking it in turns to row continuously for 24 hours.

A SHOPLIFTER admitted stealing goods worth more the £400 in the space of a month from shops in Chiswick, writes Robert Cumber.

Anthony Largey, of Kensal House, Ladbroke Grove, struck five times at three different stores in Turnham Green Terrace between November 4 and December 17.

The 49-year-old stole three coats worth £117 from clothes store outlet JoJo Mammon BeBe on November 4, toiletries worth at least £280 from Oliver Bonas between November 10 and December 17, and a £25 'Cag in a Bag' from fashion outlet Cath Kidston.

He admitted five charges of theft at Feltham Magistrates Court last Friday and was given a one-year supervision order and told to attend a drug rehabilitation scheme.

A HEROIN addict and part-time artist was given a conditional discharge after stealing two steaks from a shop in Chiswick, writes Robert Cumber.

Louie Simpson, of Elgin Avenue, Shepherds Bush, took the meat, worth nearly £30, from As Nature Intended, in Chiswick High Road, on December 11.

The 36-year-old admitted one count of theft when he appeared at Feltham Magistrates Court last Friday and was ordered to pay £50 costs.

Chiswick High Road is one of London's top five most ticketed streets - with 18,688 being handed out in the last 12 months.

The mile long road was named third most lucrative in the capital for parking fines and traffic penalties in an investigation by The Standard .
