Chiswick Park biodiesal vehicle move
CHISWICK Park which provides a workplace for almost 5,000 people, will now power all its vehicles on biodiesel made from recycled waste vegetable oil used by restaurants and cafes based on the Park.
The waste oil from restaurants and food outlets at the Park will be taken to the 'Uptown Oil' refinery where it will be purified, filtered and refined, and ready to use in its diesel vehicles which help keep the 1.5 million sq ft office park clean and maintained across its 10 office buildings and surrounding landscaped gardens, lake and boardwalks.
Chiswick Park will buy back the resulting biodiesel, at a far cheaper rate than the cost of standard diesel fuel, saving the Park thousands of pounds per year.
The biofuel promises environmental benefits both in terms of reduced exhaust emissions and reductions in fuel cycle emissions.
John Conry, Guest Relations Manager at Chiswick Park, said: "At Chiswick Park, thinking about the environment runs central to all that we do. There are environmental features to all our buildings and the grounds, so it was a natural progression for us to transfer this onto the vehicles we run on the Park as part of our ongoing yellow is green initiative. Biodiesel resources can be re-grown and is considered infinite in comparison to crude oil that is limited; it is also more cost effective and offers a far decreased chance of pollution to the environment to petro diesel."
