Berkeley's winning Fuller's recipe
CHISWICK resident Berkeley Gaunt of Berkeley Fine Foods has won a Fuller's Hampshire 'Chutney Challenge' competition to produce a new chutney using one of Fuller's beers as a key ingredient.
The competition was open to Hampshire Fare producers across the county, and was held during the recent Hampshire Food Festival. Berkeley's kitchens are located in Emsworth, Hampshire.
The competition is one of a number of initiatives by Fuller's in conjunction with county food group Hampshire Fare to increase the use of local produce on Fuller's pub menus in Hampshire.
The winning recipe from Berkeley Fine Foods was for a date, fig and prune chutney made with Fuller's London Pride. The competition was judged by Fuller's chefs and senior management.
Fuller's executive chef Simon Howlett said: "The judges were impressed by Berkeley's chutney, and commented on how well the fruit flavours worked with the beer, giving great flavour, taste and looks."
Winner Berkeley Grant said: "I have great respect for Fuller's beer and London Pride is smashing. I am keen to supply Fuller's pubs with this new chutney and also plan to add it to my range of chutneys for anyone to enjoy.''
