Thames river rescue woman dies

Posted by Jessica Thomas on Mar 11, 09 12:34 PM in People

A woman who was dramatically rescued from the Thames by Chiswick Lifeboat crew has died.

Last week the Chronicle reported how RNLI crew and ambulance staff managed to give the woman lifesaving CPR after a rower found her body floating in the river near Hammersmith, at 5pm last Monday.

The woman who is in her 50s was taken to Charing Cross Hospital in a critical condition, however she sadly died at 6pm the following day, despite the lifeboat crew's beliefs she would survive.

A police spokesman said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious and a post mortem and inquest will be scheduled in due course."
