Posted by Jessica Thomas on Jan 20, 09 05:41 PM in Charity/voluntary

Chiswick lifeboat crew are donning their full protective equipment and taking part in a gruelling journey in aid of RNLI's national fundraising day.

The crew are seeking sponsorship to walk the 22 miles from the RNLI lifeboat station in Teddington to the RNLI Waterloo Pier lifeboat station.

Chiswick station manager Wayne Bellamy, said: "We are doing it on foot, along the Thames path wearing full RNLI protective equipment, which includes Drysuits, lifejackets, helmets and boots.

"It should be quite a sight and a gruelling eight or nine hour journey."

During the walk on January 30, the same day as the RNLI's SOS fundraising day, crew will pause at Chiswick lifeboat station for rest and refreshment at the halfway point.
