Day 46: Finished at last
Read about Matt George's Long Walk Home
After the best part of 900 miles I've made it. My feet are still sore and it's going to take a week before my legs feel normal but I'm chuffed to have done it.
I grew up in Cornwall so for the last eight miles (Penzance to Land's End) I had 10 mates come down to walk with me, it was a real boost and great to get their support after so many days trudging along on my own.
A few dozen local people turned up at the finish line to greet me which was really touching and goes to show it's the best part of England - although I'm slightly biased.
It feels great to have acheived what I set out to do, but if anyone was to ask my advice about doing it I would say get on a bicycle because walking is a killer.
There are amazing beautiful times, but also hours of tedium and pain when every step literally aches. Let's face it you never get somewhere quicker than you expect when you walk. I knew it would be hard but I think I was a bit caught out by the weather which was terrible for three quarters of the journey.
Still I've done it now and raised £1,200 so far. A massive thank you to everyone who has sponsored me and supported me throughout the walk.
