Michael Campbell and the former England rugby captain are being joined by 30 work colleagues for the 933km coast-to-coast cycle ride through the Pyrenees mountain range in a bid to raise over £175,000 for premature baby charity, Bliss.

Michael, 38, of Dale Street, said: "This is going to be one of the biggest challenges of my life, I have been training hard since late January in preparation and when possible also on steep hills.

"Having watched the guys on the Tour de France recently going up hills that we're going to cover, the pressure is mounting. They're pros, and they didn't even seem to make it look that easy."

Michael sets off on September 25 along a route that will take them over 30 steep mountains, with a total ascent of around 16,000m.

Meanwhile Dallaglio, who is no stranger to physical endurance, added: "I'm really pleased to be involved with this challenge and raising money for Bliss. We have a great team and I'm looking forward to testing my physical fitness for this worthy cause."
